Eden (University of Illinois- Full Athletic Scholarship), Ellie (Yale University), Amy (Michigan- Full Athletic Scholarship),and Jaleigh (University of Arkansas).

San Mateo Level 8 Gymnasts Compete at 2022 Regional Championships

Competition was tough at regionals and both gymnasts took home a title, or 3! It was a strong end to a long season, with Eliana competing on NorCal State Team and Bella winning AA Regional Champion. Thank you to all our coaches!

Level 7 Team Compete at 2022 Regional Championships

The Level 7 Team had a great time in beautiful Salt Lake City. Congratulations all of our gymnasts for their accomplishments this season. Thank you to all of our coaches, many of whom supported the whole team at meets throughout the season.

SMG's Level 6s competed on State Team at Regional Championships and Anabelle scored a perfect 10!

WOW.......Congratulations to our Level 6 Team you all did AMAZING at Regionals competing with the best of the best and representing NorCal on the State Team with a 2nd place WIN!

We are all so PROUD of each of you.

We cannot thank our coaches Lucy and Ashot enough, you both work so hard every day and we appreciate your continued support and positive training of these girls helping them be the best can be, THANK YOU! Congratulations to Anabelle on scoring a perfect 10 on Beam, awesome job!

2022 Regional Championships

April 29th - May 1st

Level 6 – NorCal State Team

 San Mateo’s Level 7 Team Win 1st Place Team at NorCal State Championships

Congratulations to Alexa, Kaitlyn, and Theresa on earning a spot on NorCal State Champion Team to Regionals.

Level 9 Team Win 1st Place Team at 2022 NorCal State Championships

Level 8 Team of Three Compete at State Championships

All three of our gymnasts made it onto the podium with at least 1 state title for each one. Congratulations! to Eliana for earning a spot on the NorCal State Team to compete at Regional Championships and Bella for her spot as alternate.

 Level 6 Team Win 2nd Place Team at NorCal State Championships

2nd Place Team Score 115.775, just 0.025 short of 1st place!

Congratulations to the entire L6 Team for earning a place on the NorCal State Champion Team!

Level 10 Team Compete at WOGA Classic

 The SMG Level 10 team travelled all the way to Texas to compete in the 2022 WOGA Classic. Fittingly for Super Bowl weekend, the meet took place at The Star, a 12,000 seat indoor stadium that also serves as the Dallas Cowboy’s indoor practice facility. The team did well, finishing 2nd overall, with several of the girls having strong individual performance, particularly on beam.

Level 7 team Win 1st Place the 2022 Winter Invitational - Home Meet

 The Level Team had a strong performance and along with the team win, Theresa scored in America’s Top 100 for All Around and Floor and Katelyn did so on Bars. Congratulations to our hard working gymnasts and thank you to our coaches, Lucy, Hanah, Kyle, Ashot, and Kristin.

Level 10 Team Win 1st Place at the All American Invitational

 SMG’s Level 10 team traveled to Puyallup, Washington at the end of January for the All American Invitational. The team took 1st place in the team competition, with Carly winning the Senior Division All Around, and Brianna and Amy finishing 2nd and 3rd respectively in the Child Division. Across the whole team, SMG finished 1st on 8 events, 2nd on 8 events, and 3rd on seven events. The highlight of the weekend was the post-meet celebration, as all 12 athletes and an additional group of 17 parents and friends, had a wonderful dinner in the private dining room of a wonderful local restaurant.

Level 10 Team Compete at The Vegas Cup

SMG’s Level 10 team had a fantastic trip to Las Vegas to compete in Vegas Cup 2022. In the All Around, Amy took 1st in Division A, Eden finished 2nd in Division B, and Ayumi and Carly both took 3rd in their divisions. Overall, SMG athletes finished 1st on six events, 2nd on three events, and 3rd on four events. Ayumi and Hana also registered 2022 America Top 100 scores, on bars and beam respectively. The team ended the night with a fun celebration at Yardhouse.

Level 10 Start the Season at the California Grand Invitational in Anaheim

The Level 10 team opened up the season with a solid performance, winning the team competition convincingly. Across the divisions, the Level 10 team recorded eight 1st places on individual events, four 2nd places, and two 3rd places. Amy took 1st place in the All Around, and Brianna, Aarti, and Eden also made the podium in the All Around.

Congratulations to our 2022 L9 Girls for starting their season off strong in Anaheim, CA at the California Grand Invitational. 

Thank you to Coaches Armen, Oksana, Kristin, and Ashot for their dedication and hard work to get these girls off to a great season! 

 Level 7 Team Compete at the California Grand Invitational, Anaheim

This was the first big interstate competition that these gymnasts have seen and they handled the pressure in stride. Our team was divided for this meet since Theresa and Kaitlyn were at National Judges Cup, but we saw some strong and confident performances. Way to go Team!

 

 NorCal Team with SMG’s Kaitlyn Lam Win 1st Place Team at National Judges Cup in New Orleans!

Kaitlyn competed on the NorCal Team that won 1st place State Team at National Judges Cup, and she won 2st Place All Around in her age group. Theresa Bruce competed individually having qualified as alternate. She won 1st place in every event and All Around. Congratulations! Theresa and Kaitlyn, we are so proud.

 

 Level 7 Team Compete for a Place on NorCal State Team

The Level 7 team competed in their first competition of the season trying to score in the top 6 to qualify for the NorCal State Team to compete in New Orleans at the National Judges Cup. Congratulations to Kaitlyn who will compete in New Orleans, coming in 4th over all at the meet, and Theresa who will travel with the team as the alternate, with her 7th place finish! We are very proud of all of our gymnasts who are poised for a great L7 season. Thank you to our coaches: Lucy, Ashot, Kyle, Hanah, and Kristin.

Level 5 Team Win State Championships!

 The Level 5 team did it again and is now the Nor-Cal State Championship 1st Place Team!

Congratulations to all the girls, they rocked it at States bringing in multiple 1st place event medals, personal best and Top 100 gymnast scores. The girls have worked hard all season and it definitely paid off. Your dedication and strength both physically and mentally are truly amazing.

We could not have done this without the consistency and dedication of our Coaches, THANK YOU to Lucy, Hanah, Ashot, Kyle and Oksana, you are all amazing!

Level 4 Team Compete at State Championships in Visalia, winning 6 Individual All-Around State Championships!

The Level 4 gymnasts competed in NorCal State Championships, which was held on Nov 20-21 2021, in Visalia. SMG’s Level 4 Team did an outstanding job with all of the gymnasts making it to the podium for All-Around! Amelia, Nuria, and Abigail made top 100 scores, and Nuria made the state team. The SMG team also won 3rd place with a score of 115.325. The girls owe their success to their coaches-Hanah, Kyle, Ashot, and Lucy.   What a great season! Congratulations!

SMG Hosts NorCal Level 3 State Championships

Congratulations to our Three All-Around State Champions!

 A GIANT CONGRATULATIONS to the Level 3 girls for an all-around awesome performance at Level 3 Nor-Cal State Championships.  Megan, Zoie, and Phoebe didn’t just compete--they crushed it, with each of the girls earning multiple individual First Place event medals, and with all three taking home First Place All-Around in her session. And, what’s more, all three girls earned their personal best All-Around score of the season!! Phoebe’s Bars (9.900), Beam (9.950), Floor (9.850), and All-Around scores also all placed in the Top 100 gymnasts.  These girls have worked so hard all season—what an AMAZING way to finish!!! We are also truly grateful for all the hard work of the coaches--these girls could not have done it without your help!  So, THANK YOU, THANK YOU: Coach Lucy, Coach Ashot, Coach Kyle and Coach Penny, we really appreciate your dedication. Finally, a big “shout-out” to all of the SMG team gymnasts, parents, and volunteers, who not only worked tirelessly to coordinate and run a great meet, but who also were there to support and cheer on all three Level 3 girls during competition.  They could feel your love!!!  Level 4… here they come!!

Princess Invitational Burlingame

 Level 3

Congratulations to the Level 3 girls for another strong showing at the Princess Invitational at Accel Gymnastics!  This team of only three girls continues to show just how mighty they are!  Not only did they get second place in the team competition, but they brought home lots of individual first place medals.  Both Phoebe (Floor 9.80) and Megan (Bars 9.90) also earned scores that landed them in the Top 100 gymnasts!  These girls may be little, but they sure are tough!! Go Level 3 Girls! We will continue to cheer you on, as you work extra hard this week getting ready for States next weekend!   Thank you again to all the coaches for your dedication to these girls--Coach Lucy, Coach Ashot, Coach Kyle and Coach Penny, we’re grateful for your help!     

 

  Princess Invitational

Nov 9th 2021

 The Level 4 team competed in their fifth meet of the season in Burlingame, on Nov 9th 2021, at Accel Gymnastics. Three SMG girls went home with the crown (1st place AA- Samira, Nuria and Abigail). The SMG team also won 2nd place with a score of 114.900. The girls owe their success to their coaches-Hanah, Kyle, Ashot, and Lucy. WAY TO GO SMG!

The Level 5 team was able to finish up their last Team meet with another 1st Place WIN. The girls did a great job competing and were absolutely AMAZING! We want to Thank all of our wonderful Coaches.....Oksana, Lucy, Hanah, Ashot & Kyle………we appreciate all your hard work, dedication and most of all for believing in us! Level 5 Team Continue their Winning Streak at the 2021 Teddy Bear Classic

 The Level 5 team is definitely on a winning streak bringing home another 1st Place WIN. We want to give a huge THANK YOU to our Coaches.....Lucy, Hanah, Ashot & Kyle-we couldn’t do it without you!  The Level 4 team competed in their fourth meet of the season in Redwood City on, Oct 9th 2021, at the Red Morton Center. The team scored 1st place AA in all three divisions- younger, middle, and older. This was Abigail’s first time competing this season. Welcome back! Level 4 won 1st Place Team with a score of 114.775. L3 Girls Team of Three Win 1st Place at Teddy Bear Classic!

The Level 3 girls rocked the Teddy Bear Classic this weekend, bringing home the first place Teddy Bear Trophy! These girls have continued to work hard every practice and their hard work is truly paying off! They each earned several individual medals and received some of their highest All-Around scores to date.  Their smiles on top of the podium (under the masks) say it all!! A special thanks to Coach Lucy, Coach Ashot, Coach Kyle and Coach Penny for their continued support and help in preparing these girls for competition.  And a huge shout out to all the meet organizers who worked tirelessly to put together an amazing event…and to all the parent and gymnast volunteers who devoted their time and efforts to make this weekend so special.  Congratulations, gymnasts, coaches, parents… and to SMG for a fantastic weekend!  It was a WIN all around!

The Level 4 team competed in their third meet of the season in Redwood City on, Sept 25th 2021, at the Red Morton Center. It was a great meet for the team. Kara swept her division by placing 1st place on each event and 1st place AA. Nuria also scored her personal best AA with a 37.225. In total, the girls won nine 1st place titles! What an incredible afternoon. Level 4 won 1st Place Team with a score of 113.175. Many thanks to coaches Hanah, Sho, Kyle, Ashot, Penny, and Lucy. WAY TO GO SMG!

The Level 4 team competed in their second meet of the season in Livermore, Sept 11th 2021, at California Gymnastics Academy. A lot of girls scored their personal bests- Arete on bars and AA, Nuria on floor, Rukhshona on bars and beam, Lily on bars and floor, Mary on bars, beam and floor, Kara on bars and beam, Samira on bars and floor, and Lily on bars and floor. During the summer our tiniest team of gymnasts competed for strength and flexibility. Congratulations to all four who made it to TOPs Diamond Team! Diamond team is awarded to the top 50 scores of USAG 7-year-olds.

It was a great start to the season for the Level 5 Team, all the girls did excellently and had a great time. We want to thank our Coaches, Lucy, Hannah, Ashot & Kyle for your dedication and support. We all got to celebrate afterwards with a pizza and swim party, thank you Milana & Family for hosting.

Level 4

The Level 4 team competed in their first meet of the season in Concord, August 28th 2021, at Technique Gymnastics. The girls started their season strong! This was the first competition at SMG for 7 out of the 9 competing girls. In the younger division, Arete won 1st place AA with a score of 37.300. In the middle division, the three girls swept the podium! Kara scored her personal best AA score with a 37.000. Level 4 won 1st Place Team with a score of 112.050. Many thanks to coaches Hanah, Sho, Kyle, Ashot, Penny, and Lucy. GO SMG!

The Level 3 girls have worked really hard and had a fantastic first meet, taking home the first-place banner for SMG!  Not only was this their first meet of the season, but it was their first meet ever! (Lots of firsts, for these girls 😊) Their smiles (beneath their masks!) say it all.  They are off to a great start!  Congratulations Gymnasts! And a special thanks to Coach Lucy, Coach Ashot, Coach Kyle and Coach Penny for all your help in preparing these girls for competition.

2021 Season Return

The gym closed for shelter-in-place right in the middle of the 2020 Spring Season for our Girls and Boys Teams. They were just getting started and despite the short 2020 season, SMG’s women’s optional teams had 23 gymnasts with top 100 scores according to mymeetscoresonline.com. Amy Fukami, scored the highest Level 9 AA score in the nation with 38.600. In addition, 4 of our seniors graduated and moved onto college teams, including 2 full athletic scholarships!

Its time to look at our teams in the 2021 season. Better late than never we can look at our first JO meet of 2021, the Byers Rose Gold Classic. Pictured below are the Level 4 girls team for this event.

The Level 4 team competed in their first meet of the season in Roseville February 19th 2021, at the Byers Rose Gold Classic. The girls were outstanding! In the younger division, Georgina swept the Younger Division with an AA score of 38.425. Joy scored in the top 3 for 3 events and 3rd place AA. In the middle division, Sophia took 1st place AA with 1st place in two events. Hailey took 3rd AA with two 2nd place events. Kara scored 4T on beam, and Abigail was in the top 3 for two events. Level 4 won 1st Place Team with a score of 114.125. Many thanks to coaches Ashot, Penny, and Lucy. GO SMG!
