SMG Contributes as NorCal Clinches 2nd Place at the National Judges Cup Championships

Coach Erin Thomas along with gymnasts Sophie and Mia were part of a six member team for NorCal at the National Judges Cup Level 7 State Team Championship this weekend in Montgomery, AL. Sophie and Mia joined four other gymnasts (plus one alternate) from Bay Area gyms as they all contributed to an impressive 2nd place finish out of 17 state teams from around the country missing first place by .3 points!  Mia and Sophie scored the highest scores for the NorCal team, with a 38.35 and 38.1 respectively. A few highlights include Sophie's beautiful 9.725 floor routine and strong 9.5 beam routine along with Mia's high flying 9.775 bar routine and graceful 9.725 beam routine. The two SMG girls and Coach Erin truly represented SMG well in Montgomery. Congrats to everyone!
